Quick Like Chicken

Just had to share this. Scanned from a pamphlet found on my car. You have to wonder what the hell the poor chicken did to receive such a bad reputation... the rest is pretty scary also...

Harry Bush Drawings

Some finely crafted drawings by the very talented Harry Bush. I am often concerned about the amount of time spent on a single drawing, so I was relieved to read that Harry Bush sometimes laboured for weeks or even months over his drawings.

His delicate line and shading techniques are respected and his drawings display a enviable understanding of male anatomy. And always his images expose his wicked sense of humor.

Masculine Face

New drawing: Pencil on A4 paper. Always looking for the ideal male face. Strong features, soft but masculine. The process of getting the shading smooth feels a bit like forcing individual graphite molecules to bond with the paper in just the right amounts. Comments always welcome...

MANLY by Dale Lazarov & Amy Colburn

MANLY by Dale Lazarov and Amy Colburn - Three stories intertwine, observing men in the best years of their lives doing what the love to do best! Dale Lazarov's sensual-sexual storyboard combined with Amy Colburn's brilliantly drawn masculine figures result in a celebration of carnal desires! These stories get by without any use of words, thus furthering the sexual fantasies of the readers.

Dale Lazarov, who lives and works in Chicago, made a name for himself in 2006 with his comic book STICKY (with co-author Steve MacIssac). Amy Colburn lives in Virginia and has been producing homoerotic illustrations for a variety of publications for years. This is their first collective publication.

Share a Moment

It is pretty hard not to get swept up in the Olympic spectacle when you see sharing like this. Germany's gymnast Fabian Hambuechen hugs U.S. gymnast Jonathan Horton at the Beijing 2008 Olympics. Horton won the silver, Hambuechen the bronze medal.

Pure Poetry

A few days ago I caught China's Chen Yibing in the men's rings final of the gymnastics event of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. China's Chen Yibing won the gold, China's Wei Yang the silver and Ukraine's Oleksandr Vorobiov the bronze. Watching him move was poetry in motion - pure art and true inspiration.

Cha Cha Heels

We saw Cha Cha Heels on Saturday night - most enjoyable! This slick Drag Extravaganza by producer Bryan Bester, brings together a cast of eight of the South Africa’s leading Drag Artists, headed up by the formidable Ines Beau Rivage and features four handsome male dancers. Awesome costumes by Kurt van der Muller and choreography by Robin McBroom make it a night to remember.

Rihanna, Beyonce, Christina Aguilera and Nelly Furtado join disco favourites Shirley Bassey, Donna Summer, Tina Turner, Eartha Kitt, Cher and Gloria Gaynor. Also, a few numbers from old James Bond movies, Chicago and some Brazilian rhythms featuring Carmen Miranda.

Cha Cha Heels runs until the 10th August 2008 at the Tesson Theatre, Johannesburg Civic Theatre. Don't miss it!

Who is Torburan?

Can't seem to find any information about this artist - Torburan. I really enjoy the strong graphic and decorative qualities as well as the way the figures have been abstracted.
